A NEW SOLUTION

TO AGEING SPIRITS
IN OLDER BARRELS

Madeva is the most cost-effective, time-saving, and easy-to-use barrel life extension system. Madeva replenishes the core components of exhausted barrels, so that older barrels can continue to be used with outstanding results.

REPLENISH OAK POTENCY

Madeva replenishes the molecular balance within depleted wood, re-introducing the exhausted lignins, cellulose, hemicellulose and tannins essential to restoring the oak’s potency. The returning of oak characteristics allows distillers to achieve the same flavour, color, aroma and mouthfeel that are imparted from new barrels.

COST EFFECTIVE

Barrel replacement and other rejuvenation methods are equally expensive, Madeva is a cost-effective alternative that allows distillers to treat their barrels with the required dosage only, no trained artisans or staff, no transport costs, no replacement of parts, just Madeva.

EXTENDED BARREL USE

Madeva restores the depleted oak characteristics back into the inner layer of exhausted wood, allowing for distillers to achieve the same rich, full profile for an increased number of fills. Madeva allows older barrels to be reused, working with your barrel ageing program instead of restarting it from the beginning. Madeva returns barrels to their former almost original state.

EASY TO USE

Madeva is used to rejuvenate barrels by the simple application of the product. It removes all the complexity out of mechanical rejuvenation involving scraping, toasting, re-charring by skilled coopers. It is far simpler than the addition of chips, poles, staves and other wood additions and does not require the de-stacking and opening of barrels to remove these additions. Madeva is simple and easy to use.

THE COST OF TRADITION

Traditional barrel rejuvenation and ageing methods are expensive and full of complexity, this is driving the need for an alternative, affordable, and simple maturation solutions whilst still delivering high quality aged spirit.

Costs of Using Oak Additions in The Barrel

  • The cost of oak additions such as chips, staves, poles, cubes and powders

  • The removal of barrels from production.

  • The de-stacking and re-stacking of barrels.

  • The time-consuming process of removing the oak additions in the post-production phase.

  • The limited results achieved by some applications such as poles.

  • The scalping and filtration required by using powders and similar high surface area additions.

Aging of spirits by using alternative rejuvenation strategies can lead to an inconsistency of flavour profiles and quality. These modifications can also result in an increased need for frequent monitoring, labor costs and quality concerns.

An often overlooked cost when adding staves, poles, blocks and chips is the displacement created by these additions, reducing production output and of greater concern is the absorption of the distillate by these additions, resulting in lost production. Madeva does not suffer these issues.
