rapid spirits ageing with WLT150

DELIVERS OUTSTANDING MATURITYSMOOTHNESSMOUTHFEELOAK AGED EFFECT TO ALL SPIRITS

WLT 150 is a liquid oak extract used to refine mouthfeel, smooth harshness, and improve balance in spirits.

It supports maturation and finishing by delivering controlled oak-derived components quickly and efficiently, while reducing costs.

The challenge distillers face today

Modern distilleries are under pressure to deliver spirits that are smooth, balanced, and consistent, while managing rising barrel costs, evaporation losses, and shorter production timelines.

Young or high-proof spirits can present as:

  • harsh or angular on the palate
  • thin or unbalanced in mouthfeel
  • inconsistent from batch to batch

Traditional barrel maturation can address these issues, but it comes with time, cost, and unavoidable product loss.

FLEXIBILITY IN CRAFTINGBLENDING

WLT 150 is designed to refine sensory structure.

It works by delivering oak-derived components in a controlled, repeatable way, helping to round harsh edges and build mid-palate weight.

It is commonly used to:

  • smooth harshness in young or high-strength spirits
  • enhance mouthfeel and perceived maturity
  • improve consistency across batches
  • reduce reliance on additional barrel ageing

A CONTROLLED ALTERNATIVE TO TRADITIONAL BARRELS

WLT 150 allows distillers to work without:

  • evaporation or absorption losses
  • batch variability
  • long lead times

Every litre added remains a sellable litre of spirit.

The oak used in WLT 150 is made from the exact same wood as traditional barrels, allowing distillers to achieve targeted sensory outcomes with minimal material input.

SIMPLE TO TEST, EASY TO EVALUATE

Testing WLT 150 requires no process changes.

A typical bench trial:

  1. Add WLT 150 at 5, 10, or 15 mL/L
  2. Allow to stand for 48 hours with light agitation
  3. Dilute to bottling strength and evaluate against a control sample

Our technical team supports trial design and interpretation.

SCIENCE, COMPLIANCE, AND SUPPORT

WLT 150 is produced from stave-quality French and American oak using ethanolic extraction, mirroring the natural interaction between spirit and wood.

It is intended for use in compliant spirit categories and markets.

Regulatory guidance is available, including specific information for the US market.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

We processed in excess of 36 000 litres of raw spirit which had distinct off notes and a harsh flavour profile, the treatment with Stoak resulted in a finish comparable with a wood aged product as well as rounding the product and providing a saleable product with a pleasant flavour profile.
Michael Veysie, Halewood
We 100% trust WLT-150 French to get the wood flavour and some effect on the mouthfeel of our brandies. It works for us. We add WLT-150 French in our process after maturation into our bulk tank before blending and we have never had issues with using it in our production.

We do not see this as added cost because it improves our quality

This product is easy to use and easy to add to the spirits. It gives not only flavour but mouthfeel and taste as well.

Master Distiller, International Bulk Spirits Group
I was always taught about old traditional methods of ageing spirits, but since I’ve used Stoak’s products in my spirit ranges, I truly believe Stoak will revolutionize the spirit industry. The quality of the product gives unbelievable results when used providing unprecedented complexity to spirits.
Roy Bowler, The Spirit Press
We have been using WLT150 for over 18 months on a number of our spirit ranges including our Flagship Tequila, which recently won double gold for its remarkably smooth character with the complex and original agave flavor.
Marc van Niekerk, Select Beverage Company
WLT has resulted in significant time saving and barrel replacement efficiencies, which has enabled us to meet our export business growth for the next 2 years.
