Globally, the tequila market has increased by 22 % since 2014, with the ‘premium and above’ price segments captured by the IWSR showing a volume sales increase of 64 %. Tequila is set to continue to outpace industry growth at over 5 % p.a.
Tequila suffers from a spirit that is often bottled quickly, aged rarely, and drunk as a shooter. This is all changing; global demand for spirits such as tequila is evolving fast with consumers demanding a smoother, more complex, and appreciated product. Ageing and maturation is central to this and is seen in the demand and price paid for higher-end products.
Sicario won an international gold award for its Agave Spirit made using WLT 150. It was judged as having complex yet smooth notes desired in a premium spirit.
