Is tradition compatible with innovation?
It is common knowledge that liquid products often result in hesitancy in the wine industry. After generations of traditional practices of harvesting grapes and making wine, resistance towards innovation can be expected. When winemakers were faced with challenges of extreme weather conditions or smoke taint, their harvest season wouldn’t exactly be successful. And an unfruitful harvest season can be detrimental for the year ahead. With each season bringing its own challenges and opportunities, we invite you to embrace the tools that can make a real difference in preparation for this year’s vintage. Especially if it’s in liquid form.
Why liquid products?
Quality cannot exist without consistency. With the influence of various external factors, consistency can be a hard objective to achieve and maintain. Unlike other alternatives, liquid products require harnessing the core components of something. By harnessing the essence of oak into liquid form, the processes of finishing and preserving quality wines is simplified. The fluidity of a liquid product places greater levels of control at the winemaker’s fingertips.
This leads us to the next question ‘which liquid product?’ Years of extensive experimentation has allowed us to develop an extraction process representing the epitome of oak utilization, Structan. Structan is a liquid oak extract that enhances tradition and quality, allowing winemakers to achieve a natural oak finish.
Structan: the liquid finishing tannin
Structan acts as a superior oak finishing tannin, developed using 150-year-old French oak and 90-year-old American oak, the same raw materials used to make barrels. Those congeners found in new oak barrels are the same ones found in Structan, but in a more consistent and concentrated form. This form provides winemakers with an enhanced sense of control over the results of their harvesting and winemaking season.
As traditional winemakers may still be reluctant after reading this, we have one final question ‘why not give it a try?’ Structan has embraced the traditional values that have shaped the wine industry for centuries. With science to prove it, Structan can be the tool you can use to make a difference in this season’s harvest.
