BARREL AGED BEER
Novel approach to beer innovation
Brewers are continuously innovating and developing new recipes, from fruity, hazy and bitter IPAs to new world variants, now they have a novel addition to their range of options with barrel aged beer.
AGE YOUR BEER
The tradition of ageing beer in barrels is not a new one and originates from Belgium in lambic beers, since then there are many breweries who have developed new flavor combinations from ageing their beer in barrels.
Barrel ageing comes with its own challenges with small batch processing and disinfecting and maintaining an aseptic environment in the barrel being a major challenge, resulting in a high incidence of infection and pathogens.
Brewshield-Barrel Aged provides a simple and commercial scale solution to imparting barrel character to your beer, whilst being natural and organic.
IDEAL BEER TYPES
Beers with higher alcohol contents and stronger flavors are generally considered best candidates for barrel aged beer, these are types of beer that can stand up to, and not be dominated by typical barrel flavors. Examples of these typical types of beers considered suitable are Imperial Stouts, Dubbels, or strong ales.
Brewshield-Barrel Aged is simple to add as it is in liquid form, it is added in limited quantities in the bright tank and can be dosed in increments until the brewer is happy with the overall profile of the finished product.
The brewer can expect Brewshield-Barrel Aged to impart notes of wood, vanilla and aromatic compounds with an added mid-palate richness.
